What it is
DIVE-IN Soothing Cream is the moisturiser in Torriden’s hyaluronic acid line, the same line as the best-selling DIVE-IN serum and toner. It comes in a 100ml tube and has a gel-cream texture: lighter than a classic cream, with a cooling, bouncy feel.
The Korean ingredient list starts with water and humectants, then two light emollients, hydrogenated didecene and caprylic/capric triglyceride. Panthenol follows, then five types of hyaluronic acid, including hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid at 500 ppm. After those come allantoin, ectoine, licorice, trehalose and witch hazel, with a group of flower extracts (clary, lavender, hyacinth, chamomile, cornflower, borage) near the end. There’s no fragrance.
Olive Young sells it as a renewed “[NEW]” low-molecular hyaluronic acid soothing cream.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if
- Your skin feels tight or dehydrated but also gets oily during the day
- You have sensitive skin and want a short, fragrance-free moisturiser
- You want a light cream that works under sunscreen and makeup
Skip it if
- Your skin is very dry, flaky or eczema-prone; you need more lipids
- You want an anti-ageing cream with actives like retinol or peptides
- You dislike a dewy finish
What the ingredients do
Hyaluronic acid holds water. Using several sizes is a common Korean approach: larger molecules sit on the surface and give that plump, dewy feel, while smaller, hydrolyzed forms are meant to hydrate a little deeper. The result is skin that feels watery-soft rather than greasy.
Panthenol and allantoin are classic calming ingredients that help skin feel less tight and reactive. Ectoine is a newer favourite: it’s produced by microbes that survive extreme heat and salt, and it’s used in skincare to protect and soothe stressed skin.
The light emollients are important here. They form a thin layer that slows water loss, so the hydration from the humectants doesn’t simply evaporate.
How to use it
Use it as the last step of your skincare, morning and night. Torriden’s directions are simple: spread an appropriate amount evenly and pat it in until absorbed. A pea-to-almond-sized amount covers the face.
In the morning, give it a minute before sunscreen. At night, it works well over retinoids or acids as a calming buffer. On dry winter nights, add a thin layer of a richer cream on top.
How it compares
Dr.G Red Blemish Clear Soothing Cream is the closest rival, a similarly light calming gel-cream that’s a little more cica-focused. Anua Heartleaf 70 Daily Lotion is even lighter, a lotion rather than a cream. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask gives a similar watery hydration as an overnight layer.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
Yes. Olive Young sells the same 100ml tube Amazon US lists, and at the usual sale price Seoul works out around 45% cheaper. Olive Young often adds a 20ml bonus, which the price box doesn’t count. Amazon UK mostly sells a 50ml tube, too different in size for a fair comparison.
One tube clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum. At 100ml it’s within carry-on limits, but only just, so a checked bag is easier.
FAQ
Is it fragrance-free?
Yes. The Korean label lists no fragrance or essential oils. There are small amounts of flower extracts such as lavender and chamomile, but not their oils.
Is it rich enough for dry skin?
For mildly dry skin in summer, often yes. In winter, or for very dry skin, layer a richer barrier cream on top at night.
What's new in the current version?
Olive Young lists it as a renewed '[NEW]' formula. The current Korean label includes ectoine and glutathione, which older versions sold abroad may not have.
Is it OK for acne-prone skin?
It's light and oil-light, so most acne-prone skin tolerates it well. As always, patch-test a new moisturiser.
