Cica Daily Soothing Mask

VT's tub of 30 soothing sheet masks: thin sheets soaked in a light essence with the four centella compounds, panthenol, propolis, honey and a long list of amino acids.

Buyer verdictA convenient, inexpensive daily mask for calming and hydrating normal, oily or redness-prone skin. It contains fragrance, so very sensitive skin should test it first. Thirty masks in one tub make it far better value than individual sheet masks.

Our price verdict

What it is

VT Cosmetics is the Korean brand behind the Reedle Shot serums and a long-running line of “cica” products. The Cica Daily Soothing Mask puts 30 thin sheet masks in one resealable tub of essence, about 350g in total. You lift out one sheet with the small tweezer that comes in the lid, use it for 10 to 15 minutes, and close the tub again.

The Korean ingredient list is a light, hydrating essence. After water, glycerin and other humectants come star anise extract, trehalose, sodium hyaluronate, arginine and panthenol. The core of VT’s “cica” claim follows: centella extract plus its four main compounds, madecassoside, madecassic acid, asiaticoside and asiatic acid. Further down there are small amounts of propolis, honey and royal jelly extracts, chamomile, a long list of amino acids and, last, fragrance.

Who it suits (and who should skip it)

Good pick if

  • Your skin gets red, warm or irritated and you want a quick calming step
  • You like sheet masks but want something cheaper than single packs
  • You want a mask you can use in the morning before makeup

Skip it if

  • You react to fragrance or bee-derived ingredients
  • Your skin is very dry and needs a rich, creamy mask
  • You’d rather not open and close a shared tub; single sealed masks are more hygienic

What the ingredients do

The four centella compounds are the most studied parts of centella, linked to calming irritation and supporting skin repair. Having them listed individually, rather than only as an extract, is a nice touch. Panthenol and dipotassium glycyrrhizate (from licorice) add more soothing.

Glycerin, trehalose and sodium hyaluronate hydrate, which is most of what any sheet mask does well. The sheet holds the essence against the skin for 10 to 15 minutes, so the skin feels plumper and calmer afterwards.

The amino acids, propolis, honey and royal jelly are small extras. They’re pleasant, but they’re not the reason to buy it.

How to use it

VT’s directions: after cleansing, prep your skin with toner, then lift out one sheet with the mini tweezer. Lay it smoothly over your face, remove it after 10 to 15 minutes, and pat the remaining essence into the skin.

Always close the lid tightly so the masks don’t dry out, and use the tub within the time shown on the pack after opening.

How it compares

Mediheal Tea Tree Essential Mask is a classic individual sheet mask for oily, breakout-prone skin. Mediheal Collagen Essential Mask is more hydrating and suits drier skin. Both come in single sealed packs, which are easier to travel with, but they cost more per use than a 30-sheet tub.

Is it worth buying in Seoul?

Yes, mainly for value per mask. We haven’t matched a like-for-like tub on Amazon yet, so there’s no direct price comparison. Olive Young’s price works out to well under ₩1,000 per mask, which is far cheaper than buying individual sheet masks.

One tub clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum by itself. The tub is bulky and full of liquid, so pack it in your checked suitcase in a zip bag.

FAQ

Can I really use it every day?

Yes, that's what it's designed for. The formula has no acids or strong actives, and VT calls it a daily mask.

Is it safe for bee allergies?

Be careful. It contains small amounts of propolis, honey and royal jelly extracts. Skip it if you react to bee products.

Does it contain fragrance?

Yes. Fragrance is the last ingredient on the Korean list. Most people won't notice it, but patch-test if you have very sensitive skin.

Why is there a little tweezer?

The tub includes a small tweezer so you can lift out one sheet at a time without touching the others. That keeps the rest of the tub cleaner.
