1025 Dokdo Cleanser
Round Lab's gentle everyday foam: mild isethionate and amino-acid surfactants with Ulleungdo deep sea water, panthenol and ceramide NP, marketed as weakly acidic.
Buyer verdictA safe, unexciting, very good daily cleanser for most skin types, and a cheap Olive Young staple. Seoul is about half the Amazon US price, though one tube is too cheap to reach the tax refund minimum on its own.

What it is
The 1025 Dokdo Cleanser is the foam cleanser in Round Lab’s best-known line. The “1025” refers to October 25th, Korea’s Dokdo Day. It’s a soft white cream in a 150ml tube that lathers into a fine, cushiony foam.
The Korean ingredient list shows a modern, gentle surfactant system. The main cleanser is sodium cocoyl isethionate, backed up by sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, coco-betaine and potassium cocoyl glycinate. Glycerin is third. Further down there’s sea water, prebiotic sugars (fructooligosaccharides), panthenol, allantoin, ceramide NP, hyaluronic acid and a set of amino acids. A little chamomile flower oil is the only essential oil.
Olive Young describes it as low-irritation and weakly acidic.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if
- You want one dependable cleanser for morning and night
- You have normal, combination, oily or sensitive skin and dislike a tight feel
- You double cleanse and want a gentle second step
Skip it if
- Your skin is very dry; a milk or cream cleanser will be kinder
- You want an exfoliating or acne-treating wash
- You want a cleanser with no essential oils at all
What the ingredients do
Sodium cocoyl isethionate is the same mild surfactant used in gentle cleansing bars. It cleans well and lathers richly without stripping as much as sulfates. The taurate, betaine and glycinate surfactants soften the cleanse further and help the foam rinse clean.
Sea water is the Dokdo line’s signature. It brings minerals, though in a rinse-off product the effect is mostly about feel. Panthenol, allantoin, ceramide NP and the amino acids are present in small amounts. They help skin feel comfortable after rinsing rather than treating anything.
There’s a small amount of potassium cocoate, a soap-type ingredient, balanced with citric acid.
How to use it
Squeeze a pea-sized amount into wet hands and work it into a foam. Massage over damp skin for about 30 seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water.
In the morning, it’s often enough on its own. At night, use it after a cleansing oil or balm if you wore sunscreen or makeup.
How it compares
SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule Foam uses a very similar surfactant base, with centella instead of sea water. Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser is a gel-to-foam option with a fresher feel. COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is the pick if you want a light gel rather than a creamy foam.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
Yes. Olive Young’s 150ml tube is the same size Amazon US sells, and the Seoul price is about half. Amazon UK mainly sells a larger 300ml tube, which is too different in size for a fair comparison.
At around ₩11,700 on sale, one tube is below the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum, so add it to a bigger basket. It’s an ideal suitcase filler: light, unbreakable and used up quickly.
FAQ
Is it fragrance-free?
There's no added fragrance. A small amount of chamomile (matricaria) flower oil is listed, so it isn't completely free of essential oils.
Is it low pH?
Round Lab and Olive Young market it as weakly acidic (약산성). We haven't tested the pH ourselves.
What is Dokdo?
Dokdo is a pair of small Korean islands in the East Sea. Round Lab's Dokdo line uses deep sea water drawn near Ulleungdo, the nearest inhabited island.
Will it remove sunscreen?
Light sunscreen, usually yes. For water-resistant sunscreen or makeup, use an oil or balm first.
