Korea vs international: The Korean tube is SPF50+ PA++++. In the US, Round Lab sells a different formula, "Birch Moisturizing Sunscreen UVLock SPF 50 Broad Spectrum", so we do not compare it with the US.

What it is
The Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream is Round Lab’s best-selling sunscreen and one of Olive Young’s top sun products. It comes in a 50ml tube, rated SPF50+ PA++++, and it’s designed to feel like a light moisturiser.
The Korean ingredient list shows the same four modern filters used in many top Korean sunscreens: diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (Uvinul A Plus), ethylhexyl triazone (Uvinul T 150), methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (Tinosorb M) and diethylhexyl butamido triazone (Uvasorb HEB). Niacinamide sits high on the list. Birch sap is listed at 1,425 ppm, with hyaluronic acid, glyceryl glucoside and calming allantoin and licorice. Tiny amounts of Scots pine leaf oil and chamomile oil appear further down.
Korea registers it as a functional cosmetic for sun protection, brightening and wrinkle care.
Who it suits (and who should skip it)
Good pick if

- You want no white cast on any skin tone
- You want one product for daily sunscreen without a heavy feel

What the ingredients do
The four UV filters do the real work. Uvinul A Plus is a strong UVA filter, Uvinul T 150 and Uvasorb HEB cover UVB efficiently, and Tinosorb M covers both. These filters are photostable and spread thinly, which is how Korean sunscreens reach SPF50+ PA++++ with such a light feel. They’re approved in Korea and the EU, but not yet in the US.
Niacinamide helps even out tone over time. Birch sap, hyaluronic acid and glyceryl glucoside give the moisturising, dewy finish the product is known for. Allantoin and dipotassium glycyrrhizate (licorice) add a little calm.
How to use it
Use it as the last step of your morning skincare. Apply generously: about two finger lengths for the face and neck. Round Lab’s directions are to spread it evenly over sun-exposed areas.
Let it settle for a minute before makeup. Reapply every two hours outdoors, and after sweating or swimming. Remove it at night with a thorough cleanse.
How it compares
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics is the closest rival, also creamy and comfortable for normal to dry skin. SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum uses the same filters in a lighter, oily-skin-friendly serum. Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel is a dewier gel option.
Is it worth buying in Seoul?
Yes. The Korean formula isn’t what Amazon US sells, so Seoul is the place to get it. Against Amazon UK, which sells a larger 70ml tube, our per-ml comparison puts Seoul about 46% cheaper. Olive Young sets currently include a 20ml mini cream.
One tube clears the ₩15,000 tax refund minimum. Sunscreen runs out fast, so it’s worth buying two or three. A 50ml tube is fine in carry-on liquids.
FAQ
Is the US version the same?
No. In the US, Round Lab sells 'Birch Moisturizing Sunscreen UVLock SPF 50 Broad Spectrum', a different formula with US-approved filters. That's why we don't compare this tube with Amazon US.
Does it leave a white cast?
No. It uses only organic (chemical) filters, with no zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
Does it contain fragrance?
No added fragrance is listed, but there are small amounts of Scots pine leaf oil and chamomile flower oil.
Is it good for oily skin?
It's on the moisturising side. Oily skin may prefer a watery sun serum such as SKIN1004's.
